About
María Paz Contreras Buzeta
Born in Chile in 1981, I hold deep studies in philosophy, rooted in my background studying law as a means of understanding the philosophy of justice. My thesis is currently part of the Biblioteca Diego Portales in Chile.
Since 2006, I have lived in New York City, where I studied art with Knox Martin and learned the legacy of the masters alongside the teachings of Krishnamurti. Since then, my work has been exhibited in countries around the world.
I was the first Latin American artist to exhibit at the most important museum in China — the Today Art Museum in Beijing. More recently, my work has been featured in museums and galleries across Mexico, China, Chile, and New York.
I have collaborated with Indigenous communities and directed Radical Perception, a documentary on the life and work of Knox Martin.
My practice includes abstract paintings, textiles, jewelry, and original symbols — all reflecting a deep investigation of The Kybalion and its seven principles. Through extensive research into Chinese symbols, I have created new visual languages that unify the West, the East, and the North.
My goal is to connect with the neutral force — a desire not rooted in ego, but one that aligns with the force of the universe. By that, I mean creating harmony between opposites and forging a new language between the West and the East.
As We. As Peace. As Now.
